Overview
Axis Bank Limited is the third largest private sector bank in India. The Bank offers the entire spectrum of financial services to customer segments covering Large and Mid-Corporate, MSMEs, Agriculture and retail businesses. It provides a complete suite of banking and financial services including retail banking, wholesale banking and treasury operations. The Bank is primarily governed by the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. As on 31 March 2025, the Bank has overseas branches at Singapore, DIFC - Dubai and an Offshore Banking Unit at the International Financial Service Centre (IFSC), Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), Gandhinagar, India. The Bank operates in four segments, namely treasury, retail banking, corporate/ wholesale banking and other banking business. The treasury operations include investments in sovereign and corporate debt, equity and mutual funds, trading operations, derivative trading and foreign exchange operations on the account, and for customers and central funding. Retail banking includes lending to individuals/small businesses subject to the orientation, product and granularity criterion. It also includes liability products, card services, Internet banking, automated teller machines (ATM) services, depository, financial advisory services, and non resident Indian (NRI) services. The corporate/wholesale banking segment includes corporate relationships not included under retail banking, corporate advisory services, placements and syndication, management of publics issue, project appraisals, capital market related services, and cash management services. The Bank had a network of 4586 branches at the end of December 2020 across the country. With 4528 domestic branches (including extension counters) and 12044 ATMs and 5433 cash recyclers across the country as on 31 March 2020, the network of Axis Bank spreads across 2,033 cities and towns, enabling the bank to reach out to a large cross-section of customers with an array of products and services. The bank also has nine overseas offices with branches at Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai (at the DIFC), Shanghai and Colombo; representative offices at Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Dhaka and an overseas subsidiary at London, UK. The Bank has five wholly-owned subsidiaries namely Axis Securities and Sales Ltd, Axis Private Equity Ltd, Axis Trustee Services Ltd, Axis Asset Management Company Ltd and Axis Mutual Fund Trustee Ltd. Axis Bank Limited was incorporated in 1993 with the name UTI Bank Limited. Axis Bank is one of the first new generation private sector banks to have begun operations in 1994. The Bank was promoted in 1993, jointly by Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India (SUUTI) (then known as Unit Trust of India), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC), National Insurance Company Ltd., The New India Assurance Company Ltd., The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. and United India Insurance Company Ltd. The share holding of Unit Trust of India was subsequently transferred to SUUTI, an entity established in 2003. In the year 2001, the bank along with Global Trust Bank (GTB) had a merger proposal to create the largest private sector bank, but due to media's issues both the banks withdraw the merger proposal. In the year 2003, the Bank was given the authorized to handle Government transactions such as collection of Government taxes, to handle the expenditure related payments of Central Government Ministries and Departments and pension payments on behalf of Civil and Non-civil Ministries such as defence, posts, telecom and railways. In December 20003, the Bank launched their merchant acquiring business. In the year 2005, the Bank raised $239.3 million through Global Depositary Receipts. They won the award 'Outstanding Achievement Award' for the year 2005 from Indian Banks Association for IT Infrastructure, delivery capabilities and innovative solutions. In December 2005, the Bank set up Axis Securities and Sales Ltd (originally incorporated as UBL Sales Ltd) to market credit cards and retail asset products. In October 2006, they set up Axis Private Equity Ltd, primarily to carry on the activities of managing equity investments and provide venture capital support to businesses. In the year of 2007, the bank again raised $218.67 million through Global Depository Receipts. They opened 153 new branches during the year, which includes 43 extension counters that have been upgraded to branches and 8 Service branches/ CPCs. They also opened new overseas offices at Singapore, Dubai and Hong Kong and a representative office in Shanghai. During the year 2007-08, the Bank opened 143 new branches, taking the number of branches to 651 which included 33 extension counters that have been upgraded to branches. Also, they expanded overseas with the opening of a branch at the Dubai International Finance Centre. The Bank changed their name from UTI Bank Ltd to Axis Bank Ltd with effect from July 30, 2007 to avoid confusion with other unrelated entities with similar name. During the year 2008-09, the Bank opened 176 new branches that include 12 extension counters that have been upgraded to branches taking the total number of branches and ECs to 835. During the year, they opened 831 ATMs, thereby taking the ATM network of the Bank from 2,764 to 3,595. Also, they opened a Representative Office in Dubai. In May 2008, the Bank established Axis Trustee Services Company Ltd as a wholly owned subsidiary company, which is engaged in trusteeship activities. In December 2008, they launched their new investment advisory service exclusively for High Net Worth clients. In January 2009, the Bank set up Axis Asset Management Company Ltd to carry on the activities of managing a mutual fund business. Also, they incorporated Axis Mutual Fund Trustee Ltd to act as the trustee for the mutual fund business. During the year 2009-10, the Bank opened 200 branches taking the total number of branches Extension Counters (ECs) to 1,035. In March 209, 2010, they opened their 1000 branch at Bandra West, Mumbai. In September 2009, Axis Bank launched the private banking business in the domestic market, christened 'Privee' to cater to highly affluent individuals and families offering them unique investment opportunities During the year, the Capital Markets SBU was restructured with the debt capital market business (hitherto a part of the capital markets) carved into a separate vertical. As a result, the Bank's Capital Markets SBU comprises equity capital markets (ECM) business, mergers and acquisitions and private equity syndication. In February 24, 2010, the Bank launched the 'AXIS CALL & PAY on atom', a unique mobile payments solution using Axis Bank debit cards. Axis Bank is the first bank in the country to provide a secure debit card-based payment service over IVR. During the year 2010-11, 407 new branches were added to the Bank's network taking the total number of branches and extension counters (ECs) to 1,390. Of these, 564 branches/ ECs are in semi-urban and rural areas and 826 branches/ECs are in metropolitan and urban areas. The Bank is present in all states and Union Territories (except Lakshadweep) covering 921 centres. The ATM network of the Bank increased from 4,293 to 6,270. During the year, the Bank also opened a Representative Office in Abu Dhabi. This was in addition to the existing branches at Singapore, Hong Kong and DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) and representative offices at Shanghai and Dubai. In March 7, 2011, the Bank incorporated a new subsidiary namely Axis U.K. Ltd. as a private limited company registered in the United Kingdom (UK) with the main purpose of filing an application with Financial Services Authority (FSA), UK for a banking license in the UK and for the creation of necessary infrastructure for the subsidiary to commence banking business in the UK. On 8 January 2014, Axis Bank announced the opening of its Shanghai Branch, thus becoming the first Indian private sector bank to set up a branch in China. On 4 December 2014, Axis Bank announced that it had closed its Senior Unsecured Redeemable Non-Convertible Debenture issue of amount Rs 5705 crore and priced at 8.85% p.a. payable annually maturing on 5 December 2024. On 9 December 2014, Axis Bank announced the launch of limited period offer of 20 year fixed rate home loan for affordable housing at 10.40%. On 27 July 2015, Axis Bank announced that it had signed a $200 million 7 year bilateral loan deal with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for extending affordable agriculture credit to farmers in India. On 22 November 2015, Axis Bank announced the opening of its Representative Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh in a bid to strengthen its international presence. On 9 March 2016, Axis Bank announced the launch of the world's first Forex prepaid card issued in conjunction with Diners Club International, a business unit of Discover Financial Services. On 30 March 2017, Axis Bank announced a strategic partnership with Wells Fargo & Company to offer seamless remittance facility to their NRI customers from The United States of America (USA). On 17 June 2017, Axis Bank in association with Kochi Metro Rail Corporation (KMRL) launched India's first single-wallet contactless, open loop metro card to allow cashless commuting for commuters in Kochi. On 5 July 2017, Axis Bank announced its foray into the luxury bikes loans segment for 500cc & above bikes. On 11 July 2017, Axis Bank announced its collaboration with Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) to facilitate trade with Latin America and the Caribbean. Axis Bank on 27 July 2017 announced that it has entered into an agreement with Jasper Infotech Private Limited to acquire 100% stake in its subsidiaries viz. FreeCharge Payment Technologies Private Limited and Accelyst Solutions Private Limited, which together constitute the digital payments business under the 'FreeCharge' brand. The deal marked the first such acquisition of a digital payments company by a bank in India. The bank had a network of 3703 branches and 13814 ATMs & cash deposit machines as at 31 March 2018 across the country.The bank has raised Rs 8680 crore of capital from a consortium of investors (Bain Capital,Life Insurance Corporation of India and other marquee investors). As on 31 March 2019, Bank had a network of 4050 branches,11801 ATMs and 4917 cash deposit machines across the country. During the year 2019-20, the Bank raised additional equity capital through issue and allotment of 19,87,28,139 equity shares of Rs. 2/- each of the Bank, pursuant to a Qualified Institutional Placement Issue. As on 31 March, 2020, Bank had a network of over 4,500 branches and over 17,477 ATMs & cash deposit machines. It opened 478 branches to its network during fiscal 2020. As on 31 March, 2021, Bank had a network of 4,594 branches and over 11,300 ATMs & cash deposit machines. It added 66 branches to its network during fiscal 2021. During the year 2020-21, the Bank raised additional equity capital through issue and allotment of 23,80,38,560 equity shares of Rs. 2/- each of the Bank on 11 August, 2020, pursuant to a Qualified Institutional Placement Issue. As on 31 March, 2021, the Bank has the following 9 unlisted subsidiary companies and 1 step down subsidiary. On 27 March, 2018, the Board of Directors of ASPL and FCPTL had approved a Scheme for Amalgamation of ASPL into and with FCPTL. ASPL and FCPTL filed final petition for approval of said merger before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The appointed date for amalgamation is 7 October, 2017 and the effect of said merger was to be given on this date or any other date as may be prescribed by NCLT. Subsequent to final hearing in matter conducted during the year, FCPTL received copy of the Order approved by NCLT, Delhi and the same was filed with the Ministry of Company Affairs, in November 2019. However, in the case of ASPL, NCLT, Mumbai amended the appointed date of amalgamation from 7 October, 2017 to 1 April, 2018. The NCLT, Delhi had already approved scheme of said Merger on October 22, 2019, which will be effective from the date of filing of certified copy of the Order of NCLAT with Registrar of Companies. During year 2020-21, Axis Private Equity Limited was merged with Axis Finance Limited. The Scheme of Merger with Axis Finance Limited got approved by NCLT, Mumbai on 23 July, 2020 and approval of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) was received on 2 September, 2020. The Bank sold 100% stake in its subsidiary, Axis Bank UK Limited to OpenPayd Holdings Limited, United Kingdom by signing a Share Purchase Agreement on 31 March, 2021. As on 31 March, 2022, the Bank has 9 unlisted subsidiary companies, 1 step down subsidiary and 1 associate company. As on 31 March, 2022, Bank had a network of 4,758 branches and 10,990 ATMs & cash deposit machines. During the year 2022, Bank added 164 branches to its network. As on 31 March, 2022, the Bank has overseas branches at Singapore, DIFC - Dubai and an Offshore Banking Unit at the International Financial Service Centre (IFSC), Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), Gandhinagar, India. During fiscal 2022, five promoters of the Bank viz. The United India Insurance Company Limited, National Insurance Company Limited, The New India Assurance Company Limited, General Insurance Corporation of India and The Oriental Insurance Company Limited had been reclassified from 'Promoter' Category to 'Public' Category in terms of Regulation 31A SEBI Listing Regulations. Accordingly, as on date, the Bank has two promoters i.e. Administrator of the Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India and Life Insurance Corporation of India. As on 31 March, 2023, Bank had a network of 4,910 branches and 15,953 ATMs & cash deposit machines. During the year 2022-23, Bank added 145 branches to its network. During year 2022-23, Bank acquired the Citibank India's Consumer Business from Citibank N. A.(CBNA) and the NBFC Consumer Business from Citicorp Finance (India) Limited (CFIL) as a going concern effective from 01 March, 2023. As on 31 March, 2024, Bank had a network of 5,705 branches and 16,026 ATMs & cash deposit machines. During the year 2023-24, Bank added 475 new branches to its network. As on 31 March, 2025, Bank had a network of 5,879 branches and 13,941 ATMs & cash deposit machines. During FY 2024-25, Bank has added 500 new branches to its network. The Bank's total assets increased from Rs 1,477,209 crores as at 31 March, 2024 to Rs 1,609,930 crores as at 31 March, 2025. Furthermore, total deposits increased from Rs 1,068,641 crores as at 31 March, 2024 to Rs 1,172,952 crores as at 31 March, 2025 and total advances increased from Rs 965,068 crores as at 31 March, 2024 to Rs 1,040,811 crores as at 31 March, 2025. The Bank's total assets increased from Rs 1,609,930 crores as at 31 March, 2025 to Rs 1,886,850 crores as at 31 March, 2026. Furthermore, total deposits increased from Rs 1,172,952 crores as at 31 March, 2025 to Rs1,335,834 crores as at 31 March, 2026 and total advances increased from Rs 1,040,811 crores as at 31 March, 2025 to Rs 1,233,570 crores as at 31 March, 2026. As on 31 March, 2026, Bank had a network of 6,278 branches and 12,796 ATMs & cash deposit machines. During FY 2024-25, Bank has added 151 specialised branches to its network. The Bank expanded innovative MSME financing (merchant cash advances, rooftop solar, NTB digital loans) in 2026. New products launched during FY26 include Agri Gold, MSME Gold, etc.

Axis Bank's Gift City Branch secures BBB rating from S&P Global for $300 million GMTN notes

Axis Bank Ltd announced that S&P Global Ratings has assigned a rating of BBB to GMTN Senior Notes in the amount of U.S.$300,000,000 issued by its Gift City Branch, consolidating this issuance with existing notes, and has also confirmed a BBB rating for the Issue of U.S.$300,000,000 5.348 per cent. Senior Notes, which will be consolidated and form a single series with the U.S.$300,000,000 5.348 per cent. Senior Notes under the U.S.$5,000,000,000 Global Medium Term Note Programme; S&P Global Ratings further notes that it may assign, raise, lower, suspend, place on CreditWatch, or withdraw ratings, and includes a disclaimer related to liability and termination of agreement, while no rating data was found for other agencies.
Axis Bank’s Gift City Branch secures Baa3 rating from Moody’s for $300 million Senior Notes

Axis Bank Ltd announced that Moody’s Investors Service has assigned a rating of Baa3 with a stable outlook to Senior Notes issued by its Gift City Branch under the Bank’s GMTN programme, totaling U.S.$300,000,000, which are consolidated with the existing U.S.$5,000,000,000 Global Medium Term Note Programme, and has also assigned a Baa3 rating to USD300,000,000 5.348% Fixed Rate MTNs due 30th June 2031, Series 30 (ISIN: XS3423944779), with no enhancements, assignments, or withdrawals noted by other rating agencies for any other instruments.

Axis Bank Q1 PAT rises 23% YoY to Rs 7,114 crore

Axis Bank's standalone net profit jumped 22.52% to Rs 7,113.92 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs 5,806.14 crore in Q1 FY26.
Total income increased 6.26% year on year (YoY) to Rs 40,721.05 crore in Q1 FY27. Operating profit rose 1.25% to Rs 11,659.10 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs 11,515.16 crore posted in the corresponding quarter last year. The bank's net interest income (NII) for Q1 FY27 stood at Rs 14,646 crore, up 8% on a YOY basis. Net Interest Margin (NIM) for Q1 FY27 stood at 3.46%. The bank reported an operating profit of Rs 11,659 crore for the quarter. Core operating profit stood at Rs 11,122 crore, while operating costs increased 5% year-on-year in Q1 FY27. On the provisioning front, the bank reported provisions and contingencies of Rs 2,223 crore for Q1 FY27, including specific loan loss provisions of Rs 2,079 crore. The bank held cumulative provisions, comprising standard and additional provisions other than NPA provisioning, of Rs 15,608 crore as of June 30, 2026. These provisions, over and above the NPA provisioning considered for provision coverage ratio (PCR) calculations, translated into a standard asset coverage of 1.24%. On an aggregate basis, the provision coverage ratio, including specific, standard and additional provisions, stood at 161% of GNPA as of June 30, 2026. Annualised credit cost for the quarter stood at 0.63%. On the advances front, the bank's loan book grew 19% year-on-year to Rs 12.62 lakh crore as of June 30, 2026. Retail loans increased 8% year-on-year to Rs 6.76 lakh crore, accounting for 54% of net advances. Secured retail loans constituted around 73% of the retail portfolio, with home loans contributing 26%. Within retail, Small Business Banking (SBB) grew 18% year-on-year, while loans against property increased 11%, personal loans rose 7%, credit card advances grew 5%, and the rural loan portfolio expanded 16% year-on-year. The SME portfolio remained diversified across geographies and sectors, growing 25% year-on-year to Rs 1.52 lakh crore. The corporate loan book increased 38% year-on-year, while the mid-corporate portfolio grew 27% year-on-year. Around 91% of the corporate loan book was rated A- and above, with 87% of incremental sanctions during Q1 FY27 being to corporates rated A- and above. The bank's investment portfolio stood at Rs 4.39 lakh crore as of June 30, 2026, comprising Rs 3.62 lakh crore in government securities, Rs 51,938 crore in corporate bonds, and Rs 25,083 crore in other securities, including equities and mutual funds. Of the total investments, 74% were classified under the Held to Maturity (HTM) category, 11% under Available for Sale (AFS), 13% under Fair Value through Profit & Loss (FVTPL), and 2% represented investments in subsidiaries and associates. On the wealth management front, the bank's assets under management (AUM) stood at Rs 7.54 lakh crore as of June 30, 2026, growing 20% year-on-year. The bank's high and ultra-high net worth client proposition, Burgundy Private, catered to 17,408 families, with AUM rising 16% year-on-year to Rs 2.68 lakh crore. On capital adequacy, the bank's shareholders' funds increased 15% year-on-year to Rs 2.12 lakh crore as of June 30, 2026. The capital adequacy ratio (CAR) and Common Equity Tier-1 (CET1) ratio stood at 16.67% and 14.64%, respectively. Additionally, provisions of Rs 7,013 crore and one-time additional standard asset provisions of Rs 1,231 crore, which are not considered for CAR computation, provided an additional cushion of around 52 basis points over the reported CAR. The book value per equity share increased to Rs 681 from Rs 596 a year earlier. On asset quality, the bank's gross non-performing assets (GNPA) declined to 1.28% as of June 30, 2026, from 1.57% a year earlier, while net non-performing assets (NNPA) improved to 0.39% from 0.45%. Recoveries from written-off accounts during the quarter stood at Rs 961 crore. Net slippages, adjusted for recoveries from the written-off pool, stood at Rs 2,479 crore. Gross slippages during the quarter stood at Rs 5,566 crore, compared with Rs 8,200 crore in Q1 FY26. Recoveries and upgrades from NPAs amounted to Rs 2,126 crore, while the bank wrote off NPAs worth Rs 2,399 crore during the quarter. Provision coverage ratio (PCR) stood at 70% of gross NPAs as of June 30, 2026, compared with 71% a year earlier. The fund-based outstanding of standard restructured loans under the COVID-19 resolution framework declined to Rs 913 crore as of June 30, 2026, accounting for 0.07% of gross customer assets. The bank maintained a provision coverage of around 17% on these restructured loans, above regulatory requirements. On the distribution front, the bank's network expanded to 6,295 domestic branches and extension counters and 315 Business Correspondent Banking Outlets (BCBOs) across 3,352 centres as of June 30, 2026, compared with 5,879 branches and extension counters and 235 BCBOs across 3,192 centres a year earlier. The bank had 12,564 ATMs and cash recyclers across the country as of June 30, 2026. Its Axis Virtual Centre operated across eight centres with 1,700 Virtual Relationship Managers. Axis Bank reports steady growth in advances and deposits for Q1 FY27

Axis Bank reported steady growth in its key business metrics for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, with both advances and deposits registering year-on-year and sequential gains.
Gross advances stood at Rs 12,72,900 crore as of 30 June 2026, reflecting a 2.3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase and an 18.8% year-on-year (YoY) growth, indicating sustained credit demand across segments. Total deposits rose to Rs 13,72,900 crore, up 2.8% QoQ and 18.2% YoY. Within this, CASA deposits declined 1.4% QoQ while increasing 11.4% YoY to Rs 5,21,700 crore. Term deposits rose 5.5% sequentially and 22.8% annually to Rs 8,51,200 crore. On a quarterly average basis, total deposits stood at Rs 13,04,800 crore, up 6.4% QoQ and 18.1% YoY. Average CASA deposits rose 5.1% QoQ and 13.5% YoY to Rs 4,81,400 crore, while average term deposits increased 7.2% QoQ and 21% YoY to Rs 8,23,400 crore. Axis Bank is a private sector bank. It has the third-largest network of branches among private sector banks and an international presence through branches in DIFC (Dubai) and Singapore along with representative offices in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dhaka and Dubai and an offshore banking unit in GIFT City. Axis Bank reported a marginal 0.64% decline in standalone net profit to Rs 7,071.31 crore in Q4 FY26, compared with Rs 7,117.50 crore in Q4 FY25. Axis Bank declined 3.38% to Rs 1,319.90 after reporting a marginal 0.64% decline in standalone net profit to Rs 7,071.31 crore in Q4 FY26, compared with Rs 7,117.50 crore in Q4 FY25.
Total income increased 1.90% year on year (YoY) to Rs 38,746.64 crore in Q4 FY26. Operating profit declined 6.87% to Rs 10,013.42 crore during the quarter ended 31st March 2026 compared with Rs 10,752.37 crore posted in the corresponding quarter last year. The bank's net interest income (NII) for Q4 FY26 stood at Rs 14,457 crore, up 5% on a YOY basis. Net Interest Margin (NIM) for Q4 FY26 stood at 3.62%. Core operating profit stood at Rs 10,619 crore. Provision and contingencies stood at Rs 3,522 crore, including specific loan loss provisions of Rs 1,146 crore. The bank also made a one-time additional provision of Rs 2,001 crore in Q4 FY26 to strengthen its balance sheet amid macroeconomic uncertainties, which it clarified is precautionary in nature and does not indicate asset quality stress. Total deposits climbed 14% to 13,35,834 crore as of 31st March 2026 compared with Rs 11,72,952 crore as on 31st March 2025. CASA deposits increased 11% to Rs 5,28,912 crore as of 31st March 2026 as against Rs 4,78,188 crore as of 31st March 2025. CASA deposits constitute 40% of the total deposits as of 31 March 2026. The bank's advances grew 19% YoY to Rs 12,33,570 crore as of 31 March 2026. Retail loans grew 8% YoY to Rs 673,468 crore, accounting for 55% of the bank's net advances. As of 31st March 2026, the bank's reported Gross NPA and Net NPA levels were 1.23% and 0.37%, respectively, as against 1.40% and 0.42% as of 31st December 2025. Recoveries from written-off accounts stood at Rs 1,197 crore for the quarter. Net slippages, adjusted for recoveries from the written-off pool, stood at Rs 815 crore. Segment-wise, retail slippages were Rs 1,041 crore and CBG Rs 93 crore, while wholesale reported negative slippages of Rs 319 crore. The shareholders' funds of the bank grew 14% YOY and stood at Rs 204,194 crore as of 31st March 2026. The Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and CET1 ratio stood at 16.42% and 14.38%, respectively, at the end of 31st March 2026. Gross slippages stood at Rs 4,709 crore in the quarter, compared with Rs 6,007 crore in Q3 FY26 and Rs 4,805 crore in Q4 FY25. Recoveries and upgrades from NPAs during the quarter were Rs 2,696 crore. The bank also wrote off NPAs worth Rs 3,096 crore during the period. As of 31st March 2026, the bank's provision coverage, as a proportion of gross NPAs, stood at 70%, as compared to 70% as of 31st December 2025 and 75% as of 31st March 2025. The bank's overall distribution network stands at 6,275 domestic branches and extension counters along with 310 Business Correspondent Banking Outlets (BCBOs) situated across 3,343 centers as of 31st March 2026 compared to 5,876 domestic branches and extension counters and 234 BCBOs situated in 3,194 centers as of 31st March 2025. As of 31st March 2026, the bank had 12,796 ATMs and cash recyclers spread across the country. The bank's Axis Virtual Centre is present across eight centers with 1,591 virtual relationship managers as of 31st March 2026. Axis Bank reported steady growth in key business metrics for the quarter ended 31 March 2026, driven by continued traction in advances and deposits.
Gross advances stood at Rs 12,44,200 crore as of 31 March 2026, registering a 6.3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) rise and an 18.4% year-on-year (YoY) increase, reflecting sustained credit demand. Total deposits rose to Rs 13,35,800 crore, up 6.0% QoQ and 13.9% YoY. Within this, CASA deposits grew 7.3% QoQ and 10.6% YoY to Rs 5,28,900 crore, while term deposits increased 5.1% sequentially and 16.1% annually to Rs 8,06,900 crore. On a quarterly average basis, total deposits stood at Rs 12,26,500 crore, marking a 2.4% QoQ growth and a 13.1% YoY rise. Average CASA deposits were at Rs 4,58,300 crore, up 2.3% QoQ and 10.4% YoY, while average term deposits rose 2.5% sequentially and 14.8% YoY to Rs 7,68,200 crore. Axis Bank is a private sector bank. GR Infraprojects rose 1.26% to Rs 849 after the company secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth Rs 1,897.51 crore from West Central Railway for the Sidhi'Singrauli rail link project in Madhya Pradesh.
The project involves the construction of a new railway line between Bahari and Gondawali stations, covering a wide range of works, including earthwork, bridges, viaducts, tunnels, station buildings, and track laying. The contract has been awarded under the EPC mode and is scheduled to be completed within 900 days from the appointed date, the company said in a regulatory filing on April 2, 2026. The order win strengthens GR Infraprojects' order book visibility and reinforces its presence in the railway infrastructure segment. GR Infraprojects is engaged in the construction of infrastructure facilities on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and build, operate, and transfer (BOT) basis. The company's standalone net profit jumped 37.70% to Rs 232.15 crore in Q3 FY26 as against Rs 168.59 crore in Q3 FY25. Revenue from operations rose 35.91% YoY to Rs 2,039.49 crore in the quarter ended 31 December 2025.

In a stock exchange filling dated 22 February 2026, the bank said it had received queries regarding bidding for a stake in CreditAccess Grameen. 'The bank has neither submitted nor is planning to submit any bid for a stake in CreditAccess Grameen', it said. The bank added that there was no material event requiring disclosure under Regulations 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and disclosure requirements) Regulations, 2015, and that it would continue to comply with disclosre norms. Sensex, Nifty trade in positive terrain; European mrkt decline

The key equity benchmarks continued to trade with decent gains in the afternoon trade despite concerns surrounding the recent U.S. tariffs announcement. Investors will monitor crude oil and gold price movements. The Nifty traded above the 25,650 mark. IT, metal and realty shares declined while PSU Bank, auto and FMCG shares advanced. At 13:25 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex advanced 341.97 points or 0.41% to 83,157.46. The Nifty 50 index jumped 90.05 points or 0.35% to 25,663.50. In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 0.41% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index advanced 0.33%. The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 1,884 shares rose and 2,252 shares fell. A total of 231 shares were unchanged. The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of the market's expectation of volatility over the near term, declined 1.16% to 14.20. Gainers & Losers: Adani Ports (up 2.39%), Kotak Bank (up 2.21%), HDFC Life Insurance (up 1.82%), SBI Life Insurance (up 1.58%) and Power Grid Corporation of India (up 1.52%) were the major Nifty50 gainers. Hindalco Industries (down 2.91%), ONGC (down 2.14%), Infosys (down 1.93%), Wipro (down 1.93%) and Kwality Wall's (India) (down 1.80%) were the major Nifty50 losers. Stocks in Spotlight: Dee Development Engineers surged 15.33% after the company announced that it, along with its material subsidiary, has secured contracts aggregating approximately Rs 173 crore. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone added 2.44% after the company's subsidiary Adani Gangavaram Port signed a memorandum of understanding with NMDC, a Government of India enterprise, and Vale S.A., Brazil. Axis Bank added 1.36% after the bank has clarified that it has neither submitted nor is planning to submit any bid for a stake in CreditAccess Grameen. Morepen Laboratories zoomed 17.48% after the company announced that it has secured a multi-year contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) mandate valued at approximately Rs 825 crore from a leading global pharma major. JSW Infrastructure advanced 1.80% after the company's board approved the issuance of 25 crore equity shares with face value of Rs 2 each, to fund its multi year expansion program IDFC First Bank slumped 16.24% after the bank said that it has uncovered fraudulent transactions worth around Rs 590 crore at one of its branches in Chandigarh, allegedly involving a few employees. Lotus Chocolate Company declined 1.59% after the company announced temporary shutdown of its manufacturing facility situated in Sangareddy, Telangana for 15 days from 24 February 2026. Global Markets: European market declined as investors await for Italy inflation data later this week. Asian stock markets traded mostly with gains on Monday as investors monitored developments related to the United States tariffs. While the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the Trump administration unlawfully imposed the measures last year, US President Donald Trump used different legal means to raise global levies to 15% from 10% over the weekend. Markets in China and Japan were closed for a holiday. On Friday, U.S. stocks rose after the Supreme Court ruling, potentially providing relief for companies burdened by higher costs from the duties and easing concern about sticky inflation still plaguing the U.S. economy. The S&P 500 advanced 0.69% and closed at 6,909.51, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.9% and settled at 22,886.07. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 230.81 points, or 0.47%, and ended at 49,625.97. The 30-stock index recovered from a 200-point loss earlier in the session on disappointing economic data. Data released on Friday showed that the US economy expanded an annualized 1.4% in Q4 2025, the least since Q1 2025, following a 4.4% growth in Q3 and well below widely reported forecasts of 3%, the advance estimate showed.
