Tata Power and DGPC Seal Hydropower Deal
Tata Power signed commercial agreements with Druk Green Power Corporation Limited for the 1,125 MW Dorjilung Hydroelectric Power Project in Bhutan. The project will be developed through an SPV with DGPC holding 60 percent equity.
Tata Power will invest ₹1,572 crore in equity in tranches. The total project cost is ₹13,100 crore. Dorjilung will have six units of 187.5 MW and is scheduled for commissioning in September 2031.
Eighty percent of the generated power will be supplied to India. The project is supported by the World Bank. It will be Bhutan’s largest PPP hydro project and strengthen regional clean energy capacity.
