On Krishna Janmashtami, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will operate normally, despite the festival’s observance. This information contrasts with the typical closure of markets on certain public holidays, indicating a special exception for this date.
Trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also continue as usual with both morning and evening sessions remaining active on Janmashtami. This decision aligns with the exchange’s policy to keep markets accessible during select festivals, facilitating uninterrupted trading activities.
Banks, however, will not follow suit and will be closed in several states including Gujarat, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu, among others. The Reserve Bank of India has declared this a bank holiday, impacting banking operations across these regions.
