JSW Energy Secures 3.6 GW Power Plant:
JSW Energy Limited has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Resolution Professional for its resolution plan on KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited (KMPCL). This comes after approval from the Committee of Creditors under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.
KMPCL operates a 3,600 MW thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh, with 1,800 MW already operational. The remaining 1,800 MW is under construction, with one unit 40% complete and the remaining units’ infrastructure in place for future expansion.
With the acquisition, JSW Energy’s locked-in thermal generation capacity reaches 7.5 GW, contributing to its total generation capacity of 28.2 GW. The company is on track to meet its 20 GW target by 2030 and is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
