Why is Stock Market Closed on November 20th? Check Now!

The stock markets will remain closed on November 20 due to Maharashtra Assembly elections. NSE confirmed this in a recent notification. Additionally, market will observe closure on November 15 for Guru Nanak Jayanti.

The Indian stock markets will observe a trading holiday on November 20, 2024 (Wednesday) due to the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The NSE, in a notification on November 8, confirmed the closure, stating, “the Exchange hereby notifies Wednesday, November 20, 2024, as a trading holiday on account of Assembly Elections in Maharashtra.”

The 288-member Maharashtra state legislative assembly elections will take place on that day, with vote counting scheduled three days later.

This closure will be followed by another on November 15, 2024 (Friday), for Guru Nanak Jayanti, making it the third market holiday this month.

The markets had also observed holiday closures for other significant events this year, including January 22 for the Ram Mandir inauguration in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and May 20 for the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.

Looking ahead, the markets will observe one more holiday on December 25 in observance of Christmas.
