On April 7, 2025, Tata Motors Ltd opened at ₹552.50, down 10.00% from its previous close of ₹613.85. The stock reached a high of ₹570.95 and a low of ₹542.55. By 10:25 AM, it traded at ₹557.60, marking a 9.16% decline, with a market cap of ₹2,05,419.26 crore.

Tata Motors Shares Decline After JLR Suspends US Shipments:

Tata Motors shares hit their lower circuit after Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), its UK-based subsidiary, announced a temporary suspension of vehicle shipments to the United States for the month of April 2025.

The decision follows the recent imposition of a 25% import tariff on foreign vehicles by the US administration. JLR has no manufacturing facilities in the US and relies completely on exports to serve the American automotive market.

In the last quarter of 2024, JLR had shipped 38,000 vehicles to the US. The temporary halt affects shipments of premium models including Jaguars, Range Rovers, and Defenders.

In a statement, JLR said: “The USA is an important market for JLR’s luxury brands. As we work to address the new trading terms with our business partners, we are enacting our short-term actions, including a shipment pause in April, as we develop our mid- to longer-term plans.”
