Stock Market Today witnessed a flat start on Wednesday, September 11, influenced by weak global cues and a sharp decline in crude oil prices, which impacted investor sentiment. By 9:22 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex had dipped by 42 points, or 0.05%, to 81,879.56, while the NSE Nifty50 dropped 19 points, or 0.08%, to 25,022.20.
On the Sensex, 18 out of 30 constituents were in the red, while 12 traded in positive territory. Asian Paints was the top gainer, rising 1.3%, followed by ITC and HUL. Tata Motors led the losers, falling over 4%.
Market breadth leaned towards the bulls with 1,632 stocks advancing, 1,111 declining, and 112 remaining unchanged on the BSE. Additionally, 122 stocks hit their 52-week highs, while 18 touched their 52-week lows.
On the NSE, Asian Paints, BPCL, ITC, Nestle India, and HUL were the top performers. Tata Motors, ONGC, Hindalco, Hero MotoCorp, and HDFC Life were the biggest laggards. Paint, tyre, and OMC stocks benefited from the drop in oil prices, while Ramco Systems surged 3.5% after releasing version 6.0 of its Aviation Software.
Globally, Asian markets were shaky as US stock futures slipped following a heated US presidential debate. Investors also awaited US inflation data, while oil prices rebounded due to concerns over Tropical Storm Francine.
