Stock market today: the NSE placed five stocks under the F&O ban on September 26 due to their derivative contracts exceeding 95% of the MWPL. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, Granules India, Hindustan Copper, Vodafone Idea, and IEX are the affected securities.
These stocks will still be available for trading in the cash market, despite the F&O trading restrictions. The NSE updates its F&O ban list daily, impacting the trading strategies of many investors and traders.
On September 25, the Sensex closed above 85,000 for the first time, with the Nifty also reaching a new high by closing above 26,000. This milestone was achieved through late buying in banking and power shares, highlighting a strong end to the day’s volatile trading.

During the day, the Sensex rose by 255.83 points, or 0.30%, reaching a new high of 85,169.87, after peaking at 85,247.42 intra-day. The market’s performance was bolstered by gains in 20 of the Sensex shares, while 10 declined.
The Nifty, similarly, gained 63.75 points or 0.25%, closing at a record high of 26,004.15 after briefly touching 26,032.80. These gains underscore a potentially sustained upward trend in the market.
Conversely, the BSE midcap index fell by 0.53%, and the smallcap index dropped by 0.35%, showing mixed results across different market segments and highlighting the day’s diverse trading outcomes.
