You have a trading idea, but you do not want to place every order manually. You may also want to know whether a strategy is working, what its biggest loss was, and which trades are open. The 1LyAlgos Dashboard brings these tasks together. It lets you build or select a strategy, test it, run it, and monitor its results from one place.

Quick Answer

The 1LyAlgos Dashboard is the main control screen for Alice Blue’s 1LyAlgos platform. It has four sections: My Strategies, Pre-built Strategies, Create Strategies, and Open Positions. You can test a strategy on historical data, run it with virtual trades, deploy it for live execution, and track details such as net profit, drawdown, and running P&L.

What Is the 1LyAlgos Dashboard?

The 1LyAlgos Dashboard is the central screen for managing your algo trading activity on Alice Blue’s platform. You can use it to track strategies you created, review ready-made strategies, build new rules, and monitor open trades.

Algo trading means using pre-set rules to place trades. For example, a trader may create a rule to buy when a moving average crossover occurs and exit when a stop-loss or time limit is reached. Once the strategy is live, the system follows those rules instead of waiting for the trader to place every order manually.

1LyAlgos is designed for users who want to create strategies without writing code. The platform also provides ready-made strategies that users can review and subscribe to, depending on the available terms and eligibility.

The dashboard has four main sections:

  • My Strategies: Shows strategies created by you under Backtest, Forward Test, and Live tabs.
  • Pre-built Strategies: Lists ready-made strategies such as Intraday, Expiry Specials, BTST, and Indicator-based strategies.
  • Create Strategies: Lets you build a strategy through a visual interface.
  • Open Positions: Displays active trades with quantity, entry price, LTP, and running P&L.

How to Open the 1LyAlgos Dashboard

You can access 1LyAlgos in either of these ways, according to Alice Blue’s current product guidance:

  1. Log in to Alice Blue’s ANT Web or Mobile platform.
  2. Go to Portfolio → Strategies → Create Strategy.
  3. Select the strategy or builder you want to use.

How Does the Dashboard Work?

The dashboard follows a simple testing path: create or select a strategy, test it, review the results, and then decide whether to run it live.

  1. Select a starting point

You can choose between a pre-built strategy and a strategy you create yourself.

A pre-built strategy may be useful if you want to start by studying an existing approach. Create Strategies is more suitable if you already have a clear entry, exit, and risk-management plan.

  1. Review the strategy details

Before using a ready-made strategy, check:

  • The market and instrument it trades.
  • Whether it is intraday, BTST, or expiry-based.
  • Its historical performance.
  • Its losing streaks and drawdown.
  • The charges and subscription terms that apply.

Do not select a strategy only because its past profit is high. A strategy that made a large profit may also have taken large risks.

  1. Run a backtest

A backtest applies your trading rules to historical market data. It shows how the strategy would have performed in the past.

For example, a backtest may show 120 trades, a 55% win rate, and a maximum drawdown of ₹9,500. These numbers help you understand the strategy’s past behaviour. They do not guarantee future returns.

  1. Run a forward test

A forward test, also called paper trading, runs the strategy in current market conditions without using real money. It helps you observe how signals and orders behave in a live market.

The result may differ from a backtest because of price movement, order execution, liquidity, slippage, and trading costs.

  1. Move to live execution

If the strategy performs as expected and its risk fits your trading plan, you can move it to Live mode. Once active, the strategy can place trades automatically according to its rules.

Start with a small position size. An automated strategy can still lose money if the market moves sharply or if the strategy logic is unsuitable.

  1. Monitor the strategy

Open a strategy from My Strategies to check:

  • Strategy name.
  • Strategy type.
  • Instrument.
  • Running or Stopped status.
  • Performance details.
  • Edit, delete, or view options.

You can also use the Open Positions section to track trades that are currently active.

Example: Tracking a Strategy

The following example is for explanation only.

Riya has ₹50,000 for trading. She creates an intraday strategy for an index derivative and tests it over six months.

Backtest results

Metric

Result

Total trades

120

Winning trades

66

Win rate

55%

Net profit before charges

₹18,000

Longest losing streak

6 trades

Maximum drawdown

₹9,500

The win rate is calculated as:

Win rate = 66 / 120 × 100 = 55%

The drawdown is more important to Riya than the headline profit. Her maximum drawdown is ₹9,500.

₹9,500 / ₹50,000 ×100= 19%

This means the strategy once fell by 19% from its highest point during the test. Riya must decide whether she can tolerate such a fall before using the strategy with real money.

Forward-test results

Riya runs the same strategy in paper-trading mode for four weeks. It records 18 trades and a notional profit of ₹2,400.

The result is lower than the backtest. This can happen because the backtest may not fully reflect live order execution, charges, delays, or slippage.

Live position example

Riya later starts with one lot. For illustration, assume:

  • Entry price: ₹120.
  • Current LTP: ₹132.
  • Quantity: 75 units.

Her running profit before charges is:

(₹132−₹120)×75=₹900

The actual result may be different after brokerage, taxes, exchange charges, slippage, and exit price. The quantity used here is only an example. Confirm the current lot size of the contract before using any calculation.

Which Performance Numbers Should You Check?

Do not look at net profit alone. Read the performance page in this order:

Metric

Meaning

Why it matters

Maximum drawdown

The largest fall from a previous peak

Shows the potential loss during a bad period

Longest losing streak

The highest number of consecutive losing trades

Helps you prepare for a run of losses

Net profit

Total gains minus total losses before or after selected costs

Shows the overall result of the test

Win rate

Percentage of profitable trades

Helps you understand how often the strategy wins

Equity curve

A line showing how the account value changed

Shows whether returns were steady or irregular

Profit factor, if available

Gross profit divided by gross loss

Helps compare total winning and losing amounts

A strategy can have a high win rate and still lose money if its losing trades are much larger than its winning trades.

Key Features of the 1LyAlgos Dashboard

My Strategies

This section contains strategies created by you. They are divided into:

  • Backtest: Strategies tested on historical data.
  • Forward Test: Strategies running with virtual trades in live market conditions.
  • Live: Strategies being used for real-time execution.

The performance page can show win rate, net profit, winning and losing streaks, equity curve, drawdown, and candle-wise signals. You can also download trade details and share a read-only Strategy Link.

Pre-built Strategies

This section includes ready-made strategies provided through the platform.

  • Intraday strategies.
  • Expiry Specials.
  • BTST strategies.
  • Indicator-based strategies.

Create Strategies

Create Strategies lets you build your own strategy through the platform interface. You can select conditions, define rules, and test the result without writing code.

You remain responsible for deciding whether the rules make sense. No-code means you do not need programming skills; it does not mean you can skip market knowledge or risk controls.

Open Positions

Open Positions gives you a live view of active trades. It can show:

  • Instrument.
  • Quantity.
  • Entry price.
  • LTP.
  • Running P&L.

This section helps you see the combined exposure of your live strategies.

Benefits of Using the Dashboard

  • You can view your strategies and open trades without switching between several screens.
  • You can test a strategy before using real money.
  • You can compare profit with drawdown and losing streaks.
  • You can pause, edit, or delete a strategy from its listing.
  • You can download trade data for your records.
  • You can share read-only performance details through a Strategy Link.
  • You can build a rule-based strategy without learning a programming language.

Risks and Limitations

A dashboard makes execution easier. It does not make trading risk-free.

1. Backtests can mislead

A strategy may look good on historical data but behave poorly in the future. The market may change, or the test may not reflect live fills and trading costs.

2. Losses can be repeated automatically

If the strategy has a wrong condition, the system may continue placing trades whenever that condition appears. Automation can repeat a mistake faster than manual trading.

3. Costs reduce returns

Brokerage, securities transaction tax, exchange charges, GST, stamp duty and slippage can reduce the actual result. Check whether a performance figure includes these costs.

4. Options carry additional risk

Expiry-day and option-selling strategies can lose money quickly when the underlying price moves sharply. Use only the amount of capital you can afford to lose.

5. Regulations apply

SEBI’s February 2025 circular sets a framework for safer retail participation in algorithmic trading. It covers broker responsibilities, algo identification, and controls around API-based trading. SEBI later issued an implementation timeline extension in September 2025.

Regulatory requirements can change. Check the latest SEBI, exchange, and broker information before using an algo platform.

Is the 1LyAlgos Dashboard Good for Beginners?

It can be useful for beginners who want to learn how rule-based trading works. The Backtest and Forward Test options let you study a strategy before placing live orders.

It may suit you if:

  • You have a clear entry and exit idea.
  • You want to test rules instead of relying on guesses.
  • You are willing to start with a small position.
  • You can accept that a strategy may lose money.
  • You will monitor the system after it goes live.

It may not suit you if:

  • You want to trade purely on breaking news or intuition.
  • You change your plan several times a day.
  • You cannot tolerate a losing streak.
  • You expect automation to guarantee profit.

Tips for Beginners

  • Start with a backtest.
  • Follow it with a forward test.
  • Check drawdown before net profit.
  • Add brokerage and other charges to your calculations.
  • Use the smallest practical position size when you go live.
  • Set a loss limit before starting.
  • Review Open Positions during market hours.
  • Keep a record of every rule change.
  • Do not subscribe to a strategy only because it had one strong month.
  • Read the latest product terms and risk disclosures.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1. Going live after one good backtest

One good result can be caused by a favourable market phase. Test the strategy under different market conditions.

2. Ignoring the losing streak

A strategy may have a positive result and still record six or more losses in a row. Make sure you can handle that possibility.

3. Looking only at profit

Profit without the time period, capital used, charges, and drawdown does not tell you enough.

4. Using an unverified lot size

Lot sizes can change. Confirm the current contract details before estimating profit or loss.

5. Running too many strategies

Several strategies may trade the same market direction. Add up your total exposure instead of checking each strategy separately.

6. Changing rules after every loss

Frequent changes make it difficult to know whether the original strategy worked. Review a reasonable sample of trades before making changes.

Conclusion

The 1LyAlgos Dashboard gives you one place to create, test, run, and monitor trading strategies. My Strategies tracks your Backtest, Forward Test, and Live strategies. Pre-built Strategies offers ready-made options, Create Strategies lets you build rules without code, and Open Positions shows your active trades. Use the platform in stages: test first, observe the results, then start small. Pay attention to drawdown, losing streaks, and trading costs, not just the profit figure.
