What are FII and DII?
FII (Foreign Institutional Investors) are overseas funds and institutions that invest in Indian markets. DII (Domestic Institutional Investors) are Indian institutions such as mutual funds, insurance companies and banks. Together they account for a large share of the volume on the NSE and BSE.
What does "net FII/DII activity" mean?
Net activity is gross buy minus gross sell for the day (in ₹ crore). A positive net means institutions were net buyers; a negative net means they were net sellers.
How is Net Overall Activity calculated?
Net Overall Activity = Net FII Activity + Net DII Activity. Toggle it on in the chart to see the combined institutional flow as a line over the bars. It is shown only on days where both FII and DII figures are available.
How often is this data updated?
The figures are published end of day, after market hours (typically around 11 PM), and reflect the latest completed trading session. FII data can lag DII by a day.
Is this cash market data?
Yes. The numbers shown are for the cash (equity) segment of the NSE & BSE. Derivatives and debt segments are not included in this view.
