Fisheries Stocks Rally After Deal

Tuesday saw a strong rally in fisheries and allied companies after India and the US signed a trade deal, boosting confidence among investors in seafood exporters to the US market.

India remains the largest supplier of fisheries and allied products to the US, with exports valued at $2.5 billion. The trade agreement is expected to improve competitiveness for these exporters.

Previously, high tariffs in the US put pressure on exporters’ revenue and profit margins, making Indian seafood costlier and less competitive compared to other international suppliers.

Despite these challenges, companies continued posting strong growth. Avanti Feeds reported 18% year-on-year revenue growth in Q2FY26, while Apex Frozen Foods achieved nearly 20% growth for the same period.

Revenue growth was supported by diversification into new markets and geographic expansion. Robust global demand for shrimp also helped sustain earnings across companies throughout the year.

The central government introduced a five-year export promotion scheme with a ₹25,000 crore outlay to support exporters and help them overcome tariff-related challenges in international markets.
