Rice stocks to benefit after Govt removes ban on broken rice export

The Indian government lifted the export ban on 100% broken rice on March 7, boosting rice stocks. The move follows record-high reserves of 67.6 million tons, nearly nine times the government’s target, easing supply concerns and benefiting exporters and traders.
Allowing broken rice exports is expected to help clear excess stock while supporting demand from African nations and Asian feed and ethanol producers. The Rice Exporters’ Association estimates exports could reach 2 million tons in 2025, benefiting India’s position as the world’s largest rice exporter.
India had banned broken rice exports in September 2022 and later imposed restrictions on other grades due to poor rainfall. With a record harvest improving supply, New Delhi gradually lifted curbs, with broken rice being the last to see restrictions removed.
Here are the rice stocks most affected by the government’s export ban removal.
