Stock market today began positively on Thursday, August 5, with gains across nearly all sectors. At 09:18 AM, the S&P BSE SENSEX was at 82,504.13, up by 151 points or 0.18%, while the NIFTY50 was at 25,241.65, rising by 42.95 points or 0.17%.

UltraTech Cement led the SENSEX gainers with an increase of over 1%, followed by Tata Steel and ITC. Conversely, Bajaj Finance, with a decline of 0.46%, was the largest loser. Key contributors to the index’s advance included Reliance Industries (RIL), HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank.

RIL shares rose by over 0.5% as the company’s board was set to meet to discuss a 1:1 bonus share issue. Additionally, RIL received approval for a new battery manufacturing facility under the ₹3,620 crore production linked incentives (PLI) scheme for ACC Battery Storage.

Sona BLW Precision saw a rise of over 3% following news of a QIP launch aimed at raising ₹2,400 crore, with an indicative issue price range of ₹675 to ₹700 per share. Zomato’s shares also gained nearly 4%, reaching ₹252.25 a piece early in the day.

Globally, Asian markets attempted a recovery after a recent sell-off, with tech-heavy Taiwan and South Korean stocks up by 1%. The MSCI index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan increased by 0.6%, while Japan’s Nikkei fell 0.5%. Oil prices were steady, gold edged higher, and Treasuries’ rally put pressure on the dollar.
