Every control on this map, explained
Market Cap
The total market value of a company — share price × shares outstanding. The default tile size, so index heavyweights get the biggest boxes.
PE Ratio
Price-to-earnings: what the market pays per rupee of profit. Sizing by PE makes richly valued stocks large and cheaper ones small.
PB Ratio
Price-to-book: share price versus the company’s net asset value per share. A classic value lens, common for banks and financials.
Volume (1D / 1W / 1M)
Shares traded over the day, week or month. Volume sizing turns the map into a liquidity view — where trading interest is concentrated.
Performance %
The color of every tile: price change over your chosen window, from one day (D%) up to three years (3Y%). Green is up, red is down, gray is flat or no data.
Heat Multiplier
Stretches or squeezes the color scale. x1 saturates at ±3%; on a quiet day pick x0.5 or lower so small moves still show color, on a wild day x2 or more.
Treemap
The layout behind the board: rectangles packed to fill the space, each one’s area proportional to its value — so relative importance is visible as relative size.
Sector grouping
The Sectors toggle clusters tiles into labeled industry blocks, sized by the sector’s combined weight — the fastest way to see rotation.

What is a stock heatmap?
A stock heatmap is a visual snapshot of an index where every stock is a rectangle: the size of the rectangle reflects a measure you choose (market cap by default) and the color shows performance — green for gains, red for losses, gray for flat. It lets you read the state of an entire index in one glance.
How do I read the colors on the heatmap?
Colors run from deep red (big fall) through gray (flat) to deep green (big rise). At the default x1 multiplier the scale saturates at ±3%. The heat multiplier stretches or squeezes that range — on a quiet day, x0.5 (±1.5%) makes small moves visible; on a volatile day, x2 (±6%) or more keeps the board readable.
What decides the size of each box?
The Sort By control. By default boxes are sized by market cap, so index heavyweights dominate the board. You can switch to PE ratio, PB ratio, or traded volume over the day, week or month — each lens tells a different story about the same index.
Is the heatmap data live?
The board is a delayed snapshot, not a live stream: NSE prices are about 15 minutes delayed and BSE about 5 minutes, refreshed when you load the page. Weekly, monthly and longer performance figures are end-of-day values. It is built for reading the market, not for tick-by-tick execution.
Which indices have a heatmap?
Over 100 Indian indices — from NIFTY 50, Nifty Bank and SENSEX to Nifty 500, midcap, smallcap and sector indices. Use the Index dropdown above the board to switch, or the quick links below it. An index needs published constituent data, which is why a few (like India VIX) have no heatmap.
Can I see weekly, monthly or yearly performance?
Yes — the Performance By control colors the board by 1-day, 1-week, 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, 1-year or 3-year returns. Stocks without enough trading history for a period (recent listings, for example) show as gray “no data” tiles for that view.
What does the Sectors view do?
The Sectors toggle regroups the board into labeled industry blocks — banks together, IT together, and so on — each block sized by its sector’s combined weight. It is the quickest way to spot sector rotation: which industries money is flowing into and out of.
